Beaches

Hastings

Hastings has a pebble beach with sand only available at low tide. The beach is patrolled during the summer season by lifeguards so please check the flags flying before entering the water. The beach is quite steep in places so care should be taken when swimming when the tide is in. It is easily accessed from the town centre and there are a wide range of shops and cafes along the sea front.

For car parking you can either park in Rock-a-Nore car park at the end of the sea front near the Sea Life centre, Pelham Place or under the pier. All these car parks have pay and display machines and the costs are about £1.10 per hour. There is also road side parking as well if you can find a space. This is also a pay at meter.

St Leonards

When travelling into Hastings from the caravan park this is the first beach that you will come to. As with Hastings, it is made up of pebbles. Currently there are few facilities at this beach so it is a bit quieter than Hastings. Car parking is using a Pay and Display car park opposite St Leonards church (on the right hand side coming from the caravan with a cost of about 90p/hour).

Bexhill

Bexhill is another pebble beach and is accessed from the town centre.

There is a small beach as you head out of Hastings near the Retail Estate towards Bexhill on the A259. You will need to park in the small car park on the left hand side opposite the petrol station. If you get to the round about you have gone too far! To access the beach walk under the railway bridge. There are toilets and a beach cafe here. This car park offers free parking for beach users. Do not park in the Retail Estate car park.

Winchelsea

This is a small sandy beach on the way towards Rye. There are no facilities here so is probably not a good place to spend the day.

Camber Sands

Camber is about a 30 minute drive away. It is just the other side of Rye. Here there are large areas of flat sand and dunes. This is one of the best beaches in the area and is well worth the journey. You will need to pay to park the car (about £1/hour) but there are beach shops and cafes if you need to get drinks, food etc.
